Bird of Paradise plants can be enjoyed in New Jersey, but only indoors - although some time outdoors in the sun ( as they thrive in direct sunlight ) in the summer weeks is possible.The pleasure of the plant is two-fold: the rich green leaves make one dream of the tropics; when the plant blooms, the dramatic flower is worth the wait. As we've said, the plant likes direct sunlight and very bright light; humid atmosphere; a moist, but not soggy soil and keep out of drafts. Our plants come in 10" diameter growers pots with the option of a pot cover. The plants are approx. 36" tall and 30" wide. The pot cover is a strong, thick, grey plastic cube of 12" with no drainage hole. The plants are NOT in bloom at the time of purchase.
